ABOUT JUAN PEREZ [ Juan Perez, Owner ]
As an owner of his own studio at age 35, Perez is the prime example of this millennium's entrepreneur. A former Class A minor League baseball champion and a 10-year Rucker League basketball coach, Perez eventually traded in his athletic equipment to pursue a career in the music industry and thus formed Baseline Studios for his close friend Jay-Z and his record conglomerate, Roc-A-Fella Records.
Formed in 2000, Baseline Studios helped Perez embark on a career that would lead to many industry contacts, friendships and successes. Baseline Studios has been host to several microphone gurus and Roc-A-Fella artists such as Missy Elliot, Memphis Bleek and Juan Perez's business collaborator, Jay-Z.
In his latest endeavor, The 40/40 Club, Perez's connections in the music and sports worlds make him the perfect addition to the already established team of proprietors. Juan Perez hails from Harlem and it was his longtime friendship with partner Jay-Z which has led to the addition of nightclub owner to his already extensive resume.
Recently, Juan, and Jay-Z expanded The 40/40 Club to include a location in Atlantic City. The October 25, 2005, red-carpet opening of The 40/40 Club was attended by celebrities and elite athletes such as 40/40 member Barry Bonds and his wife Elizabeth. Perez and partners have plans for 40/40 Club openings internationally.
